Hi, I was given a Nikon D40 with 18-55 DX kit lens for my 50th b/day and i am interested in starting portraiture. having the diagrams of your setup with the photos to show the result is great for learning. I have two old flash guns, a National 287S and a vivitar 2600 (triggered with GI radios) with two white umbrellas. (Not tried any shots yet)
Q1 : Do you think these will be powerfull enough for portraits (max three subjects)
Q2 : what colour of background should you use
Q3 : If i want to use a hair light etc, do they have to be a flash or could it be a small halogen (with black card snoot attached) will this type of light cause a problem in the photo.

The way in which you explain the techniques is exactly the way i want it explained. Thanks for a great site and i'll be back.

Best regards from Bonnie Scotland, Billy Graham.
