Hi-
Just found you site and I'm already learning some good stuff! Can you answer this question, please:
I adjust the exposure by changing the f/stop on the camera, right? Doesn't the flash output also effect the exposure? What difference does the flash output setting make if you control the exposure with the camera? My flash also has f/stop readings; I don't understand what that means coming from a flash.
I really appreciate all the free info you are providing!
Thanks for entertaining my "newbie" question!

Hi... I am a recent graduate of photojournalism... Finding out as I make my way in the world that commercial photography education is what I should have spent my money on. I have two big passions. Photography and new life. I have begun a small niche photography service in my area. Maternity, birth, and newborn photography. I don't do much in the way of traditional posing... I shoot more pj style. But I have found myself at a loss for lighting. Your lighting info is amazing... I cannot thank you enough for how much you have helped me! I can't stop reading... Thank you!

I think I may be getting it ;) So, I mount the vivitar 285HV on a light stand, attach a multiclamp to the stand, and then put an umbrella in the clamp? (I'm still not certain with what to do with the other vivitar! Hopefully I just haven't read to that part yet :) Do you suggest a certain umbrella that works best with photographing infants? I see you mentioned they come in all different varities. Thank you again, for your time.

D: Glad you like the series. One of these days I'll finish it, once I'm done with dialup that is (soon).

I got a brolly at amvona.com. I would suggest you stick with strobes and stay away from floods. They generate lots of heat and can be dangerous, not to mention uncomfortable for you and your subjects. You'll be sweating in no time. Hope this helps.
